Barcelona Beaches – Mar Bella and Barceloneta
Barcelona Beaches are one of the most sought after thing on visit to Barcelona city. You will surely not be disappointed at Barcelona beaches as the city is blessed with really good beaches. During my visit to Barcelona, I visited two of the most famous beaches of the city namely Mar Bella and Barceloneta.

How to reach Barcelona Beaches?
If you are staying near La Rambla or University area, you can actually walk to the beach or take a metro to Barceloneta metro station. I was staying at TOC Hostel Barcelona and beaches were at walking distance via La Rambla.
La Barceloneta – The Leaning Tower
I spent some time at the port area for a few pictures before heading to La Barceloneta Beach. The beach is a white sand beach with mild waves. There are showers on the beach. I was surprised to see such well maintained beach so close to the city. However, the beach is a bit crowded with lots of people playing and sunbathing. There were water sports activities at the beach for the fun-seeking travelers.

La Mar Bella Beach – Nudist Barcelona Beach
La Mar Bella beach is walking distance from the La Barceloneta beach. This is unofficially the nudist beach in Barcelona. You can comfortable sunbath at the beach. Being topless at this beach doesn’t catch much of an attention as this is quite normal.
After spending five hours at the beach, I left for lunch to La Rambla. The time spent at the Barcelona Beaches was really fun and relaxing. It was a much needed break within the holiday sightseeing. I recommend that you try and visit both the beaches during your Barcelona visit.
If you are looking for a quick picture, be sure to grab the watch tower at La Barceloneta and Dolphin building (seen in backdrop in picture above). If I have to choose only one of the Barcelona beaches, I will pick La mar bella beach.
I would love to hear your experience at Barcelona beaches? Have you visited these beaches already? Are you planning to visit them soon? Let me know your views through comments. I look forward to read them.
How was the weather? Must have been pleasant on the beach?
I was there in September, it was sunny in day but not hot. I will compare to mid March in Delhi
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about bcn. Regards
The watchtower looked interesting. Haven’t been to barcelona/spain.
